World Environment Day 2012 is the 40th edition of the global. The UN General Assembly started observing the day in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.
What does Green Economy means:
As per the definition of United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP), a Green Economy is 'one that results in improved human
well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing
environmental risks and ecological scarcities.'
Green economy widely refers to an economic situation where the
economic developments take place without hurting the environment. In the
green economy the income of people is driven by the private and public
investments which helps in the reduction of carbon emissions and
pollution and stimulates energy and resource efficiency, and ultimately
helps in the prevention of loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
