5
MWp Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant has been installed
at village Rawara, Taluka Phalodi in the state of Rajasthan under Jawaharlal Nehru
National Solar Mission. This project has
been commissioned by Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL), a PSU under the
Ministry of Heavy Industries &
Public Enterprises. The location is
ideally suited for taking all the advantages of Photovoltaic systems as in
Western Rajasthan the solar insulation is very good and number of sunny days is
also very high. This Power plant is designed to feed
power to 33/132 kV Grid Sub Station at village Bap which is situated at 18 km
from plant site Rawara.

5 MWp SPV Power Plant at Village Rawara, Taluka Phalodi during work in progress
The
project site spans about 27 acres and is quite accessible by road. The nearby Panchayat Bap has become a solar hub as projects of
approximately 50 MW Solar have been installed around the area based on various
technologies such as photovoltaic (crystalline and / or thin film) and solar
thermal.
The
5 MWp SPV Power Plant has
been developed based on the crystalline technology which is the trusted
technology since 1970s. A single control room has been constructed at a 5 MWp SPV Power Plant site for effective monitoring of plant.
20 nos. of 250 kVA PCU have been used. The power
output to the 33/ 132 kV grid sub-station at Bap has been provided through 5
nos. of 1.25 MVA transformers. This ensures the smooth functioning of Power
Plant in case of failure of a part of system.
To
optimize the power output REIL has ensured the series of modules in such a way
so that the similar rating modules are put together in the same array. By this
REIL has ensured that there is no mismatch in modules and thereby more power
will be delivered.
REIL
has commissioned this 5 MWp SPV Power Plant in record
time of less than 45 days. This includes the HT switch yard work also. This
power plant will also be maintained by REIL for 5 years.
Salient
features of the project:
- Record shortest duration for installation- commissioning of system.
- Innovation in cable routing by effective utilization of PV module mounting structures.
- In house R & D for development of Array Junction Boxes which was a critical item for timely execution of the project.
- Harmony with the surrounding community.
- Optimal and effective utilization of local resources.
- Skill development of local vendors.
